Wegel to Discuss Establishing the Industry’s First Airline/Air-Taxi Utilizing eVTOL Aircraft – A Potential Watershed Moment in Aviation
MIAMI – August 13, 2024 – UrbanLink Air Mobility LLC (UrbanLink) Founder and Chairman Ed Wegel will deliver the keynote address at Aircraft Commerce and Aircraft IT’s 2024 Airline & Aerospace MRO & Flight Operations IT Conference - Americas in Miami. This leading IT and technology conference will focus on innovations and technologies shaping the future of aviation, bringing together over 60 exhibitors and more than 500 delegates from across the Americas.
Wegel, a seasoned airline executive with 40 years of experience, founded UrbanLink Air Mobility in May. UrbanLink is a pioneering advanced air mobility (AAM) operator based in South Florida, poised to be the first U.S. airline to integrate electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft into its fleet. UrbanLink has placed an order with Lilium, developer of the first eVTOL jet, to purchase 20 Lilium Jets with scheduled pre-delivery payments. Additionally, Wegel has announced plans to add zero-emission luxury water taxis to UrbanLink’s fleet, supporting its eVTOL route network in Florida, California, and the Caribbean.
During the 2024 conference, Wegel will outline his plans for what could be a potential watershed moment in aviation: establishing the industry’s first airline/air-taxi utilizing eVTOL aircraft. He will walk guests through the business model, aircraft technology, challenges, regulatory approvals, traditional airline integrations, IT infrastructure, future plans, and more.
