UrbanLink Founder, Ed Wegel, Featured on Aviation News

UrbanLink Air Mobility Founder and Chairman Ed Wegel spoke with Aviation News Editor Jessica Brownlow at the Aviation Festival Americas about the future of air travel, improving passenger expectations, and strategies and initiatives for decarbonizing the industry.

Wegel highlighted sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and eVTOL as key technologies for reducing emissions and stressed the need for public-private partnerships to effectively develop emerging technologies such as the eVTOL sector.

“Everybody has to work hand in glove to make this work. We’re talking new technology, opening up new markets, creating new demand for a product that doesn’t exist today.”

Wegel, a seasoned airline executive with 40 years of experience in airline financing, operations and aircraft certification, has participated as a panelist and speaker at Aviation Festival Americas for over 10 years.

In May, Wegel launched UrbanLink, a South Florida-based advanced air mobility (AAM) operator dedicated to revolutionizing urban transportation through all-electric, zero emission air mobility solutions. UrbanLink partnered with Lilium, developer of the first eVTOL jet, to purchase 20 Lilium Jets and is collaborating with established vertiport developers to build a robust support network for AAM operations.
